3 little steps to gratitude

Hi

I hope that May was manageable and that you were able to capture many special moments.

As we arrive in June I thought I would share with you my own 3 step guide to gratitude journalling.

When I speak to people about keeping gratitude journals, there is always one question that always comes up.

“What if I’m feeling really low” We all know the feeling. When you’ve had the week/month that goes constantly wrong and then you think, if one more thing goes wrong … and then that one more thing happens.

This is one of the reasons I personally keep a gratitude journal, as it can quite often bale us out of all the horrible feelings that arise in that situation.

This little ritual will hopefully make keeping a gratitude journal, a little more fun and purposeful.

D.D.D.

Devoted Daily Date - make a date with yourself each day for 5 minutes to spend sometime with your journal. You could add some music or light a candle too.

You may like to habit stack this to make it a constant date.

Habit stacking is when we stack a new habit onto something that is an estabished routine, something like brushing our teeth for example. This then makes our new ritual form a regular pattern.

Each day take some time to write one or two things that went well in your day.

The small things in life are in fact the big things.

A nice cup of tea. A walk. A pretty sky. A chat to a friend. A good book. A good sleep. Visited a nice garden. Rose and Peony season began. Watched a good movie. Made something creative. Discovered something new etc etc

At the end of the week on Sunday evening, you know the one that still feels like we are going back to school. I call this night:-

W.W.W.

What went well this week - this is when you give yourself the opportunity to reflect on your week. On your w.w.w. page you just pull out three or four items from your week that went well. This is the moment when you (hopefully) realise that the week that you though had gone quite pear shaped, did infact hold some happy moments.

Finally, just to keep you inspired to the end of the month. I add this page to my journal.

M.M.M.

Magical moments this month - this is when you reflect on all of your end of week. What went well moments and picks a few of your most favourite to become your magical moments this month.

This is what personally gets me through the tough months. I hope this helps you to create a lovely wellbeing ritual.

I hope that June is a sunny and happy month.

Kind wishes.

Jules xx
