Romance your life….
Dear friends
I hope everyone is well as we suddenly find ourselves at the end of October, making the transition into the darker season, as the clocks go back. It is as always a little shock to the system, the light air, blue skies are to be replaced by much more moody winter hues. Scarves and jumpers are starting to come out, as we learn once again life is about warmth and juggling with the daylight hours that are available.
However, it is also a good time to remind ourselves to look within, also time to look at what is no longer serving us mentally, physically and emotionally. A time to go slightly more slowly. A time to make our winter nest. A time to romance our own life. A time to make our winter living space, the space that is our preferred space. So that we can enjoy rather than endure the winter months.
How do we do this?
Room by room, it’s about making every room pleasing for the winter months. Just the simple things. I often think a clear space creates a place for a clear mind. I always feel at my personal functioning best if I am surrounded by a calm, tidy and harmonious space.
Wear your favourite clothes, let things that no longer fit or make you happy go.
Wear comfortable boots and shoes, our feet have to support our whole body, let’s be kind to them.
Curl up with a warm drink and a good book, a book offers both new information and some escapism.
Rearrange your books in colour order.
Have a digital detox, replace scrolling for an actual unsubscribe detox.
Batch bake/cook some nourishing suppers in advance. Serves things on pretty plates.
Declutter kitchen cupboards and drawers. This is our nourish zone.
Clear old magazines, throw/give away or use to make a Vision board.
Add a splash of colour to a wall, while listening to some upbeat music.
Invest in the on-line course that keeps calling to your heart.
Light the beautiful candle - you know the one that’s too beautiful to use.
By having a pre-season declutter, life at home will run a lot more smoothly. It is also a feel good factor sharing things that we no longer need, by giving them to a local charity shop. Local charity shops always welcome things that are in good condition.
By making our own nest, a cosy one with all our favourite things. We make the darker months more manageable. We remind ourselves of the things that we enjoy and what our personal home values are. By giving our home some love we make a beautiful space, so that we can enjoy, rather than endure the darker months.
I hope we can all create some winter harmony within and lift ourselves away from any possible heaviness that may arise!
Until next time.
Happy Hygge Season. Stay warm and well.
